Here is my Ella-bee

Going through my Christmas pictures this evening I found a great picture of Gabriella my sweet 8 year old by the Christmas tree.

Growing up

Wow my oldest daughter who is 12 was having fun with the photo booth on the laptop and sent me this beautiful picture of herself. I really enjoy the softer side of her, and this photo shows that so nicely.

Maybe I can get the 8 year old to photo for me later? No promises.

Speaking of photos I need to get some done of the quilts that I made for Christmas presents. Three have not been given yet because the recipents, being my parents and brother are out of town. Then I have my daughters, in-law, hubby. These just need the binding handstiched on. So, I guess the quilts and I will be having a photo shoot soon. I also have some pillowcaes that have been made.

I am planning on getting some yarn from my friend at www.Sockpixie.com and get knitting on some socks again. I am out of practice. Yikes!

Hello?

Wow it has been quite a while since I have posted. I had become overwhelmed with life and all the happening that I had shut down on somethings in my life. I was having a look at some of the posting and missing my on-line friends. So I hope to slowly get back into my knitting and blogging. Hope all has been well for you this holiday season. We are currently moving again and having a great break from school.

About CM trip.

There will be a photo of knitting, but the rest is about my Creative Memories Business.

I know I was going to let you know about some of the new Creative Memory stuff on Monday. Well I was busy with my business letting my customer in on it first. We have the traditional scrap booking; we have digital and finally framing.

The digital change is just amazing. With the new Stroybook Creator Plus there are more options to redesign, use the customized templates or make your own pages. You could send these pages to our photo center for printing. In fact if you sign up at the print center using this 89755147 number you are entitled to 20 FREE prints. Then as they roll out new designs they could be bought. That means the favorite paper you like will never be discontinued. Because you have it digitally. The 12x12 pages you want printed could be slid into the picfolio MAX. OR you could create three different size Storybooks. The 8x8, 8.5x11 and 12x12. The great thing about these books is that you design once. When a family member see the book and has all the childhood memories of mom and dad, they may want a copy. No problem goes and has another reprinted. It will be saved up to a year.

We have some new 12x12 and 8x8 quick kits. I assembled my 8x8 family quick kit on the plane home with no cutter or tape runner. The paper is pre deigned, I just added the stickers and the die-cuts that had foam dots onto to adhere.

Some sweet paper albums in four design, great for a personal gift.

If any of you have the cutting system the new blades that rotate. No pausing and missing points. Just set in track and zip around in one go.

The framing is also beautiful. I am looking for a framing consultant to join my team. That way the three avenues of this business will be knowledgeable in the field of choice.

Joining the team is easy and fun, you pick your kit of choice. Interested let me know, there is a great added incentive.

Micheal Isreal was one of the entertainment artists.

Please feel free to have a look at my website. www.mycmsite.com/kwc Placing an order online means that it will be direct ship to your home.

I had a great time and was busy that knitting was hard to squeeze in, so upon coming back one of the evening I had my room-mate take a photo of me. Then I knitted for about 5 minutes, not enough but better than nothing

Colors are a funny thing.

When it comes to my favorite color I tend to like the autumn colors. The olives, Merlot and chestnut tones. I do not care for bright, neon colors. I think I overdid those colors in the 80's.When it comes to Hogwarts house colors (Ravenclaw) I prefer the movie colors over the book colors.I am working on some socks at the moment with yarn called peacock colorway. And in line is the tea rose colorway. These were intended for the beret pattern, but I was having a time with it so I opt for them to become socks and will get some more and try the beret again later. So after all this I guess I like everything except very bright, bold is the way to go.

The Birthday Girl

My beautiful Daughter celebrated her 8th birthday yesterday. Having a party with some friends and family was fun.

But not as exciting as getting her ears pierced.
I think her checks hurt by time she she went to bed, the smile was everlasting. What a brave soul, I think she was quite proud of herself as well. Not one tear was shed.

A Date with Snoopy

No knitting news at the moment, but....

Snoopy was having a flower party at our county fair. This party was two days before the fair opened. The tables of different wines, chocolate fountain with fruit, sushi and other goody tables were fun to travel about with gifted wine glass. The flowers were beautiful and I had a good time with my parents and brother, Snoopy too!

International and National packages today

What a great day for fun mail. My girls got some goodies from my Auntie Nelly from Australia.

I got my special Hogwarts package from my pal Shelby! Thank you heaps and heaps!!!

It was so much fun opening in the car and going trough the wrapped packages.

My Hufflepuff socks fit me quite well, don't you think?

The goodies that I got...the extra yarn in which my socks were made will turn into some mini socks for my fundraiser and then I will see how much is left for something else. there was some blackberry sage soap. Crystal palace size one DPS needles and Hufflepuff stitch markers. Then my Hogs Head colorway yarn that Shelby dyed. Of course chocolate truffles to keep the dementors away. In my case it lured a couple little girls. hehehe

I was quite spoiled with this first ever swap. Thank you so much again Shelby. And congratulations on the family news, may many blessing be many among you and yours.

My Hogwarts Questions Answered

1. What Howarts House have I been sorted into? After take the three different test and being sorted in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw I opt for Ravenclaw this time around.

2. What are my foot measurements? Just measured and length is 9 1/2" long and wide part of foot is 8 3/4"

3. My three favorite sock yarns. I like SockPixie yarn, Lorna Laces, and Koigu sock yarns.

4. Yarn I haven'tused but would like to try. The three above are about the only ones I have tried thus far in my sock knitting adventures. So I am open for anything new.

5. Type of patterns I like. I can do toe up and cuff down, so a pattern maybe with no more than 5-6 row for the main pattern. I am fairly new to this sock making bussiness. LOL I have a total of 5 finished socks and about three on needles now.

6. Varigated or solid? I like varigated, although I would like to try to soild colors and work on patternizing.

Socks on needles.

Well I am so excited about the different socks I have on needles. Stash my King Charles Caviler is posing with Lornas Laces sock yarn and Celebration pattern by Sockpixie. The center one is a Jaywalker sock with Sockpixie yarn-Raspberry Cheesecake. The finally I have the Cornucopia sock pattern with Cornucopia sock yarn from Sockpixie.

There is a reason for having so many socks on needles. Really I promise. The first sock is on hold because I am learning about short rows. The second one is zipping along and a great one for being able to knit and talk at the same time. Then the third one is on hold as well for a bit, trying to figure the reason why my stitches are not meshing. I keep having 2 extra stitches. I will get it.

I have one more skein of Sockpixie yarn waiting for the right pattern. I was thinking about the sidewinder pattern from Nona. I am not sure. It is scary for me to try such a new and different pattern. I may need to find a pacing buddy to work on it with. Any Sonoma County locals willing to give it a go with me?

Yes, I have Pictures!

I have pictures ladies and gentlemen. I am so excited. So I will show some highlights with captions.

Well my Yarn Harlot pictures in which I took several, I feel this is the one that turn out the best of her from my camera.

Then I had fun with my Hogwarts Sock Swap and Snoopy. Now that my socks are finished I will be gathering up the rest of the goodies and searching for an owl to post. I may need to go ground mail due to the increase of owl shipments. Those snails need jobs as well.

Then there was this weekend of Fort Bragg and Mendocino with my parents, brother, hubby and girls. We stayed at a bed and breakfast. On Saturday we had a great hike at the botanical gardens and then went kite flying.

The rare family picture of the husband, wife, and two daughters.

On Sunday Grandpa and Grandma headed back home shortly after breakfast. The rest of us headed to Glass Beach. the tide was low when we got there and by time we left high tide arrived. It was quite a treat to see. We collected glass rocks and searched out hermit crabs and other tide pool heroes.

My favorite moment was having my girls looking out toward the vast open space of the ocean and just being in the moment!

Before I left I had hoped that my yarn from my friend Sockpixie would be here. I am glad it was not, because it sure was nice to come home to a package from a friend! The three yarns will be having a photo shoot soon. I am excited to be working with these very soon.

Thursday, June 14, 2007

I bought yarn, again.

Well my friend Sockpixie and her daughter have a on-line yarn shop. And I am telling they have great yarn colors! I was going to wait a bit to get some but.....I could not help it. The colors were calling me. The patterns they have are a great challege for me as I am a fairly new sock knitter. Having instructions on two circulars is a blessing. So today I got the email in regards to my yarn is on it's way. With any luck I will have my Harry Potter sock swap socks finished by time "THE" package arrives. I am figuring that the mail with yarn will be here Friday and with any luck before I leave to Ft. Bragg, CA. This mini-trip is for Father's Day. So my divorced parents (they get along-grandchildren are involved), my brother and my family. We are staying at a bed and breakfast. We are going to "glass beach, Mendocino to fly kites, go hiking and have a great time with family.

I may go to my mom's tomorrow and see about getting some pictures up on the blog. I must say there are some that I need to post with stories. The H.P.sock visited Snoopy, the girls had a dance recital this past weekend and I learned more about my Creative Memories Memory Mangaer program for my pictures.

Getting to see the "Yarn Harlot"!

I had the evening all planned out. DH was going to Petaluma with a friend to sing Kaeaoke and I was going to dropped off at Copperfield bookstore to see and meet the Yarn Harlot. Getting dropped off was going to be a bit less stress and worry so I would not have to park.

But.....I drove the girls out to Grandma and pa's to find them not there after they agreed to watch them overnight. No, this can not be happening! It is about 4pm at this point a half an hour from my home and then Petaluma with traffic is about 40 mintues from my house. And I still need to get gas and pick up hubby and friend, before, that go home and change; at least my shirt and freshen up a bit. ERRRRR!

It's okay, deeeeeep breath. I get back to Windsor and get gas and while at the pump waiting for driving liquid I think. Aha! Mom, she lives here in town, let's go in person to see if she can take at least one of the girls. Yes! It worked, so Gabriella got to stay then I decided Victoria being older could handle being out went with us. Jet back to the house for a quick change of clothes and off in the car again off to pick DH's friend in Santa Rosa on the way to Petaluma. While hubby was driving I made sure all my goods were pack in my basket for a quick exit from the car. Sock on needles, check. Book to be signed, check. Card made from mini-sock project to give to the Yarn Harlot, check. Patterns of mini-sock project to pass out, check. Camera, check. All good with five mintues to spare I arrive in front of the bookstore and dash in to take a seat off to the left of the podium.

It was fantastic and I had a great time. I was able to get my book signed and meet Stepahnie and while she signed my book I passed on a bit of a message in regards to the mini-sock project and had a sample of the card to give to her with the pattern. Hope you liked it.

Still waiting for the ablity to get pictures up. Until then they sit within my camera.

Just check the Yarn Harlot blog and her pictures from last night are up and I am in the second audience one. I am wearing a green shirt.

I'm back, I think.

Wow what a journey getting my computer fixed. DH was able to get my hard drive fixed. I am going to have to wait for my pictures to be rescued and post pictures at a later time.

In the mean time life has been busy and fun. My oldest daughter had a 12th birthday.

My non-profit is starting to take shape. We now have a name. S.N.A.P.S. which is the acronym for Signing, Networking, Advocating for Parents and Siblings. Website coming during the summer I hope.

The local yarn shop has the mini sock project pattern and has passed out several. When I stopped there the other day I was able to pick up a dozen mini socks to turn into cards to sell for fundraising. FUN!

The girls just finish there last day of school yesterday, so we are off to a fun summer of a little bit of everything.

All the art projects that my girls did during the school year came home. Some of these works of art are on my walls now and clay items on my shelves. I just love a good piece of art made from a child. Especially a child of mine. In fact I have entered some of these item into the local County fair which is in July. So we shall see what ribbons they get.

Living in Sonoma County is fun during the summer. We have Peanuts on Parade. This year "Joe Cool" Snoopy statues are all around the town of Santa Rosa. So we will be going around and taking pictures with Snoopy and the girls maybe I will follow the Yarn Harlot's idea of the traveling sock. So whatever sock is on needles will make the cut in the pictures.

My friend who moved from Petaluma to Boston is in business again via the web. I am so excited for her and her daughter Alex. Otherwise known as the Sockpixies. Go and check out the beautiful hand painted yarns they have created.

I have nearly completed one of two socks for my Harry Potter sock swap. Oh yeah I just remembered there is a Harry Potter Snoopy. I will need to take this sock on needles there for a photo op.
I was torn between two yarns and two patterns. What happens I have learned to knit socks on two circulars. And a lot of patterns call for DPNs. So what I do is knit in the circulars for the pattern then get to the gusset and have a hard time coverting the pattern in my head from DPNs to my two circulars. I am such a visual person, what can I say.

Tonight I am going to SEE the Yarn Harlot in hopes of meeting her. She is going to Cooperfield bookstore in Petaluma. I am bringing a mini-sock project card with the pattern enclosed so that maybe she can get the word out to fellow sock knitters that need to do something with left over sock yarn. Looking forward to this event!

Thank you all for taking time to read my jabber. And putting up with typos and spelling mistakes at the moment. Just wrote and left.

Yikes!

My computer is down ......HELP DH! "Ok, I will get to it soon." He says.
Oh my pictures I just uploaded, I pray to God they will still be there and that not all is lost. My Mother's day tea, Victoria's birthday photos and more.

I also need to post to my Harry Potter sock swap site today to show my progress on the socks. I will see what I can do.

Take care everyone.

Was I missing?

Where did the last week of April go? If you recall I was charging my camera for pictures then doing chores and then life got a hold of me! It was a fun ride though.

I attended to family needs, sewed, and even knitted in between it all.

In March my two girls 7 and 11 took a sewing class to get the basics of machine sewing. Then in April during Spring break they took a quilting class and made their own mini quit. THe class was held at this quaint quilt store called The Material Girl. In fact Friday after school they are going back to finish it up. So I will some photos of them and post later. (I promise) So between this and looking at some of the other blogs I was inspired to sew again.

So I got a hold of fabric stash and then put this array of colors together to make the start of a raw edge quilt. I am going to make it a wall hanging one. Then if I like the way thing get going maybe build up to doing twin size ones for my girls. I have the original templates of my great-grandmother “Long Rocky Road to California” quilt. From these templates my grandma made four quilts. She had three grand-daughters and one grand-son. I digress….

So here is my first of six blocks. After it is washed the edges will have a ragged look. I will keep you posted.

As for socks on needles I have the Monkey sock by Cookie A for mother-in-law for Mother’s Day. At the foot of the second one. Yeah!

The Walking Away sock by Fiber Trends for sister-in-law Maria. One done and started it's pair.

Then the Ostrich Fantasy sock by Sock Pixie for the other sister-in-law Jolie, just started.

I am also going to be starting my Harry Potter sock swap pal’s sock soon. I have the yarn ordered all the way from Brightdyes in England. Have a look!! It is Ravenclaw film colors. Am I your pal? Is this your sock yarn?
